Kinderchor was founded in 1998 by Kaye Gmur and Nancy Streiff, two Swiss-descended ladies who love to sing and wanted to share that tradition with the next generation. Later, when Nancy’s talents and time were increasingly devoted to the New Glarus Jodelklub, Kaye’s sister, Lynn Schwoerer, came on as accordionist.
Kaye and Lynn continued to lead the group and perform at many exciting venues, including the Overture Center in Madison and Navy Pier in Chicago. When Kaye learned that Holly (Erickson) Lague (who loves to sing) had moved back to town with a musician-husband in tow, she started spreading a rumor that they would be taking over direction of the group. Holly and Kevin heard about their new would-be role while buying groceries at Roy’s and decided it sounded like a pretty good idea.
After a few lessons on accordion from the Legendary Larry Daehn, and some tutelage from Kaye and Lynn, they took the reigns in 2014.
